About Kamala Private Game Reserve
Lud De Bruijn was one of
the game farming pioneers in the Eastern Cape.
His passion for hunting and conservation was
initiated in 1970, some 35 years ago. This was
the onset of` the Kamala Game Reserve.
Dale Cunningham is the
son-in-law of Lud and has also been drawn into
the majestic beauty and nature of Africa.
The Kamala Game Reserve
was christened Kamala from the word Kamenyala (Kameelperd
(eng. Giraffe) and Nyala) and is now a popular,
well run business, with a high level of service
throughout the lodges.
It is managed by
professionally trained staff who will ensure

Information
Kamala Game Reserve
has six different plant biomes (Succulent karoo,
Thicket, Savannah, Nama Karoo, Forest and Grassland) and
is home to abundant animal and birdlife.
Re-introduction of game into the reserve began in 1975
with the arrival of 8 impala. From these humble
beginnings, there are now more than 30 different species of game
and over 270 bird species.
The Reserve situated
in the Cape Province of South Africa, an area in the
world known for it's extensive tortoise population and
thus is home to a vast variety of tortoises. The Cape
province has 9 of the world's 39 species and Kamala is
proud to have 6 or rather 7 if one includes the Cape
terrapin.
